It's Official, You're Awesome

Congratulations! You've reached Level 10! Now, you can:
• Choose your class
• Use teleporters to travel quickly between cities
• Go to Pet Island

Classes

There are nine different classes available to you at Level 10. The process of choosing a class is conveniently embedded within the story; thus, this is covered below in the section headed: A Word About Classes.

Teleporting

Teleporting is a quick way to travel between big cities. To teleport:
1. Enter a big city - Da Li, for example.
2. Find the city's Escort (marked on the Map and in AutoPath as "Teleport").
3. Talk to the Escort.

4. Select a city.
5. Ta-Da! You've teleported!

Pet Island

What's so special about Pet Island, you ask? You can get new pets there, and these pets actually have useful skills, unlike those silly little ducks and rabbits your practiced with earlier.

You can get there by talking to Cherry Yun (185, 156) in Luo Yang (see Teleporting below).

Click on "To Pet Island".

Go to the nearest open space on the area map (TAB).

Tame a Wild Swallow by beating it into submission.

Once you've tamed the Wild Swallow, click on it again to capture it.

Now the Swallow is yours! To summon it, bring up your Character Window (C), click on the Pet tab at the bottom of the window, click on Wild Swallow, then click on Summon.

There are a few more things to know about Pet Island. The deeper you venture into Pet Island, the higher the level of pet you'll find - and the harder they'll be to capture. Higher-level pets are protected by Pet Guardians, who aren't to be taken lightly.

One final note about Pet Island: Pet Hill - adjacent to Pet Island - offers even higher-level pets. Be careful venturing here as this is an open PvP zone, and the animals are hard to tame.

What Next?

Want to know how to make it through the next ten levels? Read on! The rest of this guide is designed to assist you on your journey from Level 10 to Level 20.

One Foot in Front of the Other

First, you're going to need to remember how to move. There are a couple of ways to get around in Dragon Oath. You can decide which you like best:

1. With the Quest Log open (Q), click on the relevant, blue-colored coordinates.

2. Click wherever you'd like to go on the Map (toggle with the TAB button).
OR

3. Use AutoPath. Either click 'AutoPath' beneath the mini-map in the upper-right corner OR toggle AutoPath ( ` - the quote key next to the number 1 on your keyboard). Then, double-click on your destination.

Tip: You can also move the camera around for a better view of the action. Hold the RMB and drag left or right to rotate the camera around your character. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

Revisiting the Master

Now that you can move, head on over to Master Zhao, located at (160, 157) in Da Li. Note that if you're not in Da Li, you'll need to navigate there. You can see what wild area or city you're in by looking above the mini-map in the top right corner.

If you haven't done so yet, get your reward for completing "Master Zhao's Goal". After you get your reward, you'll automatically be given the quest: "Join One Of The 9 Classes". Also, while you're here, get your reward for completing: "Ask Master Zhao About the Classes". Talk to Master Zhao again to accept the quest: "Visit the 9 Kung Fu Classes".

A Word About Classes

Your class determines several things, including: the type of weapons you can wield, whether you're a long-range or close-range fighter, the class mount you ride, and the type of attack skills you can learn. Also, each class has a special location associated with it. Here is a list of classes with a quick breakdown of each:

• Pyromancer - They make up for their lack of defense with extremely powerful fire-based attacks.
o Weapon: Spears and Falchions
o Range: Close
o Mount: Lion
o Location: Fire Palace

• Minstrel - They use fire and magic traps to confound their enemies.
o Weapon: Fans and Circles
o Range: Long
o Mount: Reindeer
o Location: Minstrel Cave

• Assassin - They are physical and ice attack masters, capable of attacking while invisible.
o Weapon: Fans and Circles
o Range: Close
o Mount: Eagle
o Location: Assassins' Peak

• Royalty - Balanced fighters, they are the only class capable of attacking from long-range with physical attacks, as opposed to magic.
o Weapon: Fans and Circles
o Range: Long
o Mount: Horse
o Location: Royal Temple

• Voodoo - Weak in fighting, they compensate by utilizing vicious poisons.
o Weapon: One-Handed Swords
o Range: Long
o Mount: Yak
o Location: Voodoo Sea

• Taoist – Their low HP is balanced by powerful magic attacks.
o Weapon: One-Handed Swords
o Range: Long
o Mount: Crane
o Location: Mt. Wu Tang

• Lotus Order - They have average abilities, but they're the only class with healing capabilities.
o Weapon: One-Handed Swords
o Range: Long
o Mount: Phoenix
o Location: Mt. Emei

• Beggars' Alliance - They are the best at evasion.
o Weapon: Spears and Falchions
o Range: Close
o Mount: Wolf
o Location: Dragon Temple

• Shaolin - The most defense oriented of all classes.
o Weapon: Spears and Falchions
o Range: Close
o Mount: Tiger
o Location: Shaolin Temple
Take your time deciding what class you want to be. You can learn about each one from Master Zhao, and you can visit each class location, without being required to join, to learn more about what each has to offer.
Note: each class comes with its own set of Class Quests. These quests are definitely one way to level up to 20 quickly and get a little gold along the way.

Once you've decided on a class, talk to the Advisor in the corresponding class' city and select Join Class. Don't forget to pick up your class gear! You can receive a class pet, class fashion, and some basic equipment to help you on your way.

After joining a class, return to Da Li by talking to the Escort (marked on both the map and AutoPath as 'Teleport').

Once you're in Da Li, visit Master Zhao again to get your reward for completing "Join One Of The Nine Classes".

Leveling Up Manually

After getting your reward from Master Zhao, you should have enough Exp. to reach Level 11. You'll know for sure if the bar at the bottom of the screen is full and colored purple:

Now that you're beyond Level 10, there are a number of different options for how you can spend your hard earned experience. For the purposes of this Getting-to-Level-20 Guide, you're going to use your experience for leveling up your character as fast as possible.

Press C to bring up your Character Window.

See the flashing arrow in the lower-right corner? Click that.

Congratulations! You've reached Level 11!

The Rest of the Journey

What follows is merely one example of a path to Level 20. You can always veer from this guide and make your own path, taking on other quests that interest you. The level progress of this path has been included - don't worry if your personal progress is slower. To catch up, kill extra monsters or pursue lower level quests from the Available tab in your Quest Log. Ok, disclaimers aside, let's begin...

Extra Credit

You're going to be slaying some monsters soon, and you're going to want to get as much credit as possible. That means 2x Exp, which gives you TWICE as much credit for every monster you slay. Since you're already in Da Li, the man you want to see is Captain Hung (Listed under Efficiency in the AutoPath Menu).

Talk to Captain Hung and get up to 5 hours of 2x Exp. time per week. If you join a guild, you can get an additional 4 hours per week! You can tell when 2x Exp is activated by the indicator at the bottom of the Quest Log (Q).

Tip - Fighting

Tip: You can do more damage in combat now by using your newly acquired Class Skills.

Your F1 skill will be used automatically when you left-click on an enemy. In fact, since the basic combat skill in F1 is used automatically when attacking, you can replace the icon in the shortcut bar with another skill. To put another skill in your shortcut bar, open your Skill window (S) and simply drag one of the skills to the desired shortcut bar F key slot. If you've assigned an attack skill to one of these slots, then after left-clicking on an enemy, press the F key you assigned the skill to to deliver extra damage with that skill. Each skill has a cooldown period. When the cooldown period ends, the skill is ready to be used again! Look for a quick flash of your skill's icons to indicate the end of its cooldown period.

Tip - Healing

Tip: You can heal yourself in the following ways...
• Resting (eating food while resting heals you even faster)
• Consuming Statice Powder (instant restoration of HP)
• Talking to a Doctor (near city gates)
You won't have to heal yourself often on the way to 20, but keep an eye on your health bar just in case.

Wild Plains

With your Quest Log open, click the Available tab. You'll see a list of all the quests available to you organized by location. Tip: you can click on the name of each location to expand and contract the list of quests for that area.
