I've done as the game instructs but I can't get my own pet. The only two I'm able to obtain are the quest ones which I don't want. I've been to pet island and still nothing. I've tried other places, nothing.
Where am I going wrong?

lol for pets, sometimes u gotta kill like 10 or more in some cases to capture them ... try doing on the weaker ones on pet islands ... u do know how to capture them right?

Kill one and should be able to capture it. I've killed over 100 of these things.

Dude, there are some things you have to know be4 catching a pet. 1st, you can only catch pets after killing mobs on pet island. 2nd, you can only catch and summon pets at your level rank. For example, level 1-30 can use mantis and lower level pets, level 45 - 54 can use tiger and owls, and level 55 can use worms.... 3rd, your pet level is not higher than your 5 levels. Last of all, mobs on pet island dont turn to pets in every kill. Take time to kill more mobs and you can get some pets. Good luck!!

Also remember that early on you can't have more than two pets. So if you still have the bunny and duckling from Lilly White, you can either get rid of them or sell them near the entrance of Pet Island in order to obtain some more. Good luck!

When I started to play this game, I thought you can catch any animal as your pet! :rolleyes: But you can't! :( I think you have to keep on killing the same type of pet in till, an animal you can capture. Maybe you should try turtles because every time I kill them, a pet appears. However be careful of those toads!
I really like the option that you can go to the pet seller to sell your pet! :D
I also killed a lot of squirrels in till I could catch one, so be patient! Something I do to pass the time is to pretend I'm a hunter!

lol he knew that a month ago ... and u dont choose a certain pet because its easy to catch ... u choose them because its skill is good ... btw, for more chance of catching successfully, wait till midnight ... u'll catch 58% faster ( this isnt an accurate percent;))

All you do is keep killing and if you want a rare one, you need to be patience.
Rare pets are the best of all if you are patience enough..
You probably see young and wild pet but if you can wait for that moments it will pop a rare pet and catch that one for your own pet.
I usually have hard time finding them and killing lol lol..
Keep killing ...and be patience you will find one.
There is this unfortunate disease that has been spreading like wild fire....laziness, immediate resolve, NOW!

You can kill the animals on the pet island when the killed pet changes color then you can capture it as your pet, but before you have to make sure that baggage is empty. Also the pets caught are various in type and savvy.i don't know if this can help.

are all the animals catchable, that are near the starter city? if so, how do i turn off attack, so i can use the catch skill? specifically, i would like to catch one of the lightning panthers, if those are catchable.

Just about all of the ones on Pet Island are catchable (excluding bosses.) You need to kill the animal first, and then another will spawn in its place (random) with a blue name instead of a red or yellow one. Once it appears, you can use the catch skill to go after it.

If y'all really want to capture "anything" as a pet, you might try other wonderful MMORPGs in the bland F2P Online world.
In the meantime, though, I'd like to add that killing pets on pet island doesn't 100% raise a pet for you. I had to kill something like 12 swallows before I got ONE wild swallow to spawn. The duck from the quest gave me false expectations and I gave up farming squirrels and mantis far sooner than I should have.
Can we capture the Pet Island Guardians? :D
