Given the quiet nature of this sub-board, I'd like to send a call out to all you Dark Revenant players, and your (class based) experience in Zentia, thus far.
Although it is *very* early yet, it seems that Revenants are the lesser played of the classes. I could certainty be wrong, (maybe Katealyst could get us some initial class breakdown percentages)

Having hit 40 on Tortoise (Autumnal), I have "looked back" (for the whole handful of days I've played, thus far), and aside from the necessary requirements for partying (for instances/bosses, ect,) find that I tend to quest and grind alone. Just my nature, I suppose, which is why the Revenant class appealed to me in the first place. Do you find a similarity in your play?

So, to re-start this subforum, (and help all Dark Rev's yet to come), please, pool your experience here, that the entire Revenant Class can be better prepared.

Here's some starter questions:

Do you find DR's a solo-capable class?
If/when you do party, what roles do you find yourself most 'expected" to fulfill by other classes?
Do you feel the DR gear is "scarce", in comparison to other classes?
What other "pros" and "cons" to DR come to mind? (aside from mp consumption, covered in another thread).

Also, "The Rules of Revenants", like

"MP/HP pots are your friends. Don't leave the City without them..."

And, of course "Stat advice" from 'game engine math geeks' (said with all due awe of their reverse-engineering skills) , i.e. "stat builds", or "Which is better , +5damage or +3ME?" Or talisman upgrading suggestions, or secondary weapon choices..

The more we share, the more we gain.

well i just typed for about 20 minutes giving helpful tips and answers to your questions.... but when i hit submit it made me sign in again which lost everything i typed and i dont want to do it again.

will sum it up-

best solo class

healing mauls your mana and you will be healing in 99% of the party you get

go magic resist ignore instead of ME since we have a lot of dots and soul form adds a ton

dont spend chance att points til you figure out what way you want to go

get mountain crab asap

stam/physique pets are great for farming with def+hp, high spr pets are good to summon while you regen.

keep track of the mana consumption of new skills. knockdown skill will be 2x or more the mana of your spirit charm

dots suck unless its on a boss.

you can recharge a 3 stack umbral rot to full time duration with another cast on it when its low.

learn how to heal.

I think crazybob summed it up pretty nicely :)

I do have a couple of other suggestions however:

Get mountain crab asap, and start using its fear ability, you'll get an aoe fear later on (when you probably will have switched to more powerful mounts), and it's imperative you start going for the fear button as soon as you get swamped, because it's the only thing going to save you.

Only cure restores vigor, and your blaze ox's bell has a 50% chance to restore an additional 30. Spam it on the tank because between dodging and parrying she drinks up vigor like good whiskey.
On the same note: the active healing ability of this bell can be used in soul form, and you'll get the next bell very soon (you get it with immortal tokens). Make a choice now: smelt your first bell for the (not very powerful but cheap mp) dot and keep your second bell for instance healing, or smelt the second bell and have another "oh crap" button when you're swamped.
This mainly depends on how much you do instances. You will be asked to heal, no matter if you like it or not, and sometimes you will have to.

Dark revenants are support characters. Even our damages and debuffs are support oriented. Try not to get into too many 1vs1 pvp, your spike damage is zero, and you have too few cc.
Do learn how to pvp manyVsmany because after you've stacked all your debuffs you can pop out of soul form and heal while still dealing damage.

Learn dot mechanics:
- ME does not affect dot damage. Our dots will not scale with Our gear. (Our heals will) So learn more powerful damage spells as soon as you can afford them.
- 99% of mobs will last way less than your dots, don't bother dotting them, except maybe hungry ghosts that does a small direct damage and it's short duration
- dots do not break fear in pve. Do area fear, stack umbral rot around, a couple of direct damages on your main target, fear again, one umral rot each target to refresh the whole stack. Rinse and repeat (with a MP pot every 2 rounds or so) and you can easily tackle 4/5 strong groups without even getting hit.
- Our first bell's dot is cheap, but does little damage and the cooldown makes it problematic to keep the stack up. Useful only early on and as a filler on boss rotations. (bell, umbral, umbral, bell, umbral, hungry ghosts; then a couple direct damage; bell & umbral to refresh the stack, hungry ghosts, etc) Absolutely useless on normal mobs, unless low on mana, and someone else is taking aggro.

Our aoe is channeled and requires soul form. This means that we cannot put it down, heal ourselves, and put it down again. If you train too many mobs alone (5 and up should be ideal to make the damage worth the mana drain) you will get swamped and die.
Use it only with a good tank who can area taunt. Use in mass pvp is risky since you are forced to stand still, but as long as you do not heal you might get overlooked.

Our buff sucks quite a bit, but cast it on people you're passing by anyway, you might get buffed with something useful in return.

Phylactery is... of dubious usefulness. Remember your party that you have it, someone might find a creative use for it.
As a last, last ditch, you can cast it on yourself just before dying, so you can shed aggro, heal&pot up and resume healing.
Do not bother to cast it on the tank, he will come up with too few hp to last. You can also use it to avoid running all the way back from the entrance if wiped in an istance.
