Low DPS?

I'm a level 15 Stormlord, and I have to say I'm seeing a real noticeable drop in DPS as I level. It takes 6-7 casts to kill things my own level. Granted, thanks to knockdown I'm still able to survive these encounters with relative ease, but I have to ask does it ever get better? I know SL wasn't the king of DPS or anything when I chose it, but this is just depressing =(

Got to level 26 on Stormlord, stays pretty much the same. Takes around 7 spells to take down a mob.

Well that's a shame. I've always found lightning-type magic to be more interesting than the way over done fire-type but it looks like I might have to switch.... or jump on the Blade warden bandwagon ._.;

It sounded like I could contend, since SL is supposed to have good AoE? But I guess that just isn't the case.

if you don't already, try using raging lightning for the opener. or after the knockdown - it says its aoe, but its not.. its the big punch.

storm lord is aoe class not 1vs1 thus the low dmg, but If it crit it can one shot mobs. SL is good for aoe party, spammable aoe ftw :D. If you want to, try upgrade ur tali, it increase ur dmg :p

well erm obviously upgrading the talisman helps every class's dps.

But at 21 I have 3 aoe spells, the weaksauce 20range aoe lightning bolt (2 sec CD), Blasting Lightning (30 sec CD), and stunning lightning (1min CD, 2-3 sec stun at 21).

All my regularly useable aoe seems to do is piss them off.

When do you start getting aoe damage that is worth casting?

all of them is at high lv, but ur not build to 1vs1, SL is better off in a party as mobs control..u need a healer to be with u

Our direct damage is slightly lower because as you said the Storm Lord has multiple ways to stun/knock something down. I assure you it takes other classes about the same amount of hits to kill stuff lol. At 36 I got the last new skill you can get in the beta the thunderstorm skill. I can pull 5-6 mobs and kill them in 5-6 seconds =). A good leveled pet + mount (crab) gets you some nice damage buffs

I quit at lv32 with my Stormlord because of the relatively low damage I was dishing out. The AoEs it had to offer didn't really appeal to me as much as I thought they would.

one thing i know after we reach lvl40 we suck at pvp...

Skills sucks like lightning bolt it says "a bolt of lightning that strikes a line of enemies in front of you and leaves them stunned" u can only dmg them with 35-42 in lvl2 and nope it's not a stun skill.. and we have static cling and static field to slow the enemies but we have to get close to them just to slow? WTF.. lvl20 Talisman skills sucks (regen mp 6mins cd WTF?).. c'mon other class lvl20talisman skills have better skills like stun..
With Low Def and Suck skills PVP is a no no for us..

Lightning Bolt description is wrong. It CAN stun its just not 100% more like 10%

It would be overpowered if it had a 100% chance to stun;)

i just manage to get a stormlord to 40 by making use the token over the weekend. afaik, the aoe skills are not that strong but we have a bucketload of em. The way I see it, best play to grind using SL is to just go for mobs 5-10 levels lower, and get like 10 of them around you and blast using Storm Cloud (30sec CD, dot AOE), Thunderball (1 sec CD), Blasting Lightning (30sec cd), Static Field (1min CD).... keep on spamming thunderball all the while.

how much does storm cloud do a tic on it's dot?

Fire mage gets an aoe dot that is instant recast and stacks with itself, does avg 50 a tic every 2 seconds

Instant recast, yes, but the actual casting time is horrible. It's like 2 or 3 seconds, while Stormlord's Thunderball is the real spammable deal; instant cast and 1 second CD. I'm too lazy to check my Stormlord for the damage. And sadly, they don't have it documented on the Wiki at the moment.

cast time isnt 2 seconds.. its shorter than the initial fire nuke you get as a fire mage. 1.5 to 2 seconds tops, no cd.

i' m a lvl 42 stormlord, at hare,ingame name crazymind25......

aoe,,,=stormlord aoe is too week to use in pvp, you wont stun or get peoples hp down,because the spammable aoe, is not strong anough, it does average 50 damage,a second,so do this,,,if your ever in a 3vs situation lol

3.static field
4.thunderball
thunderball you spam like crazy,,,,but remember, you got no chance ever to 1vs1

some other details about a stormlord,,it only has 1 skill that stunns hahah,yes only 1=stunning bolt,, yeah yeah and it stuns you for 0.5 seconds,well the opponent..so not even anough time to run away...

WHAT CAN THE MAKERS OF ZENTIA CHANGE ABOUT THE CLASS

-mages should have a nuke aoe, meaning a aoe thats long distant,not an aoe wich can only hit people ,while your in the middle,,,cause mages have NOO GOOD DEF AND HPPP,,DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,

mages are no class for you if you don' t like dying, if you wanne run in first, or be a leader,

If you are level 42, you have Lightning shield. That makes your aoe's incredibly powerful for a short while. Im level 50, and im dominating War of Camps. I also do fairly well in 1v1.

Put your stats into stamina? Get better gear? lol

ohh so your owning huh,, prob because your higher lvl than the rest,, i think you seem to forget as a mage, before you even get close to aoe, you will be stunned and killed, but thats only because hare,does have a crap load of good players wo kill you within a second, aint no way a mage can go walk in a group and start aoeing!!!!

Well aparantly you are not one of the good players. Don't try and get close to them, only use your PBAoE's if they get close to you.

Hug walls, run around corners, stun lock/Knockdown lock them, then go nuts.

Im honestly surprised to see someone complain about how weak stormlords are. I myself am a stormlord and I havent seen any class that compares to the aoe efficiency of a stormlord both in pvp/pve.

A fire mage may come close but stormlords have an advantage because of their lightning shield buff. For those who dont know what it does, it makes all our aoes hit twice per cast (or per tick), per target.

The only downside to stormlords is how fast mp is drained but I dont mind. Thats a trade off I am willing to live by.

Once you find another class that can kill 4-5 people together in a few seconds at a time let me know.

Stormlords are all about timing. You dont just run in into a group of people to cast your aoe. Try to find a lapse and once youre near enough, prepare to unleash your fury.

What ninjus says is quite correct imo.
So far I have noticed hardly anything of the 'weak damage' or 'weak defence'
ok, our defence IS weak, but even at lvl 52 in capital i still kill 80% of the things before they can reach me, so i dont think there is something wrong with that damage either...

And for pvp, i haven't really tried 1v1 pvp yet, but in mass (WoC etc.) i find myself quite helpfull for the team, i just keep the healers stunned while others finnish off the dps (:

so after all, i think im going trough with this SL ;D
