For this English version of Dragon Oath online the following Regions will be blocked:
Europe
China Mainland
Philippines
Vietnam
Malaysia
Hong Kong China
Taiwan China

We plan to open a European version of Dragon Oath, simply named TLBB in our London based office this fall.
Though the games are separate , we'll do everything that we can to make sure both sides receive the same level of service and product quality.
We apologize to our European community for the wait.

Meh been trying to think of reasons why this is a bad idea but came up with jack:rolleyes: I know some Europeans lagg like hell on US bassed games so having one based in London would be perfect for us.
Just now you have to concern your selfs on 2 versions, join together you could have a huge community which attracts people towards the game, splinting them is just making them look small if your with me....
But what ever you do i suppose il stick around :).

Chinese games are not prefer by North& South America players ( that my idea after looking at some comments on mmmosite.com and base on amount of members on this 4rum )...by separating 2 version, you will make the community look small.....that will ruin this game and make players get bored...
furthermore, I'd like to play with people who come from different countries ^^!
anyway, whatever you do I appreciate it

Question:
Is it a possibility that you can put the UK in or would you have to do the whole of Europe? If you have to do the whole of Europe then i understand.
But if you can do UK only, don't you think putting all English country's together is better? bigger the community the better i think.

No, not really. Since there's a wonderful thing called time zones it will be no larger/smaller than it would be with just one region of the world playing. Their might be a peak time where Europeans/North Americans are both awake and playing but other than such we'll see no more people than we would just having a game for each region of the world. Kinda a shitty explanation, but I hope you see my point.

Zether , why u dont combine the 2 severs together both Europe and U.S. so there will be a large community and there would be much more fun. We could make friend with people around the world and there will be guild of each countries :D , we can have guild war with other guild . and that's very fun. :D I hope you would do that. Thanks :D

I'd rather have Europe here as well, because it'll be fun to meet and talk to people from Europe and from other places. Other than that, I can't really think about anything. Oh, and the game only looks like it has less players because we're in Closed Alpha testing, and we're just going into pre-closed beta, not even closed beta yet.

To be honest, I could probably write a whole dang essay on why Europe should be allowed in the US version. But I'd really rather not. Anyways, yea, Europe should be allowed here... it is alot of fun when talking to people all the way around the world. Isn't that partially what MMOs are about... meeting and socializing with people from all around the world? Sure Asia isn't allowed in for obvious reasons... already have their own version. But NA and Europe usually are allowed in the same version. I mean, alot of us here from America, and from places like the UK, have the same idea about what makes a good MMO, unlike alot of Asians who think a Unreal Engine 3 generic grinder freaking rocks. Europe should be allowed to play with us. Bigger communities + More friends allowed in with other friends = AWESOME! Please allow Europe in the U.S. version. Thanks.

Good to have some official word on the matter, puts an end to all the doubts.
However since you asked if we can reason why there should not be a block, here's a few things on top of my head.
Considering the lag issues someone mentioned beforehand, it should hardly be an issue. Us europeans play on US based servers all the time.
Same goes with the language barrier, majority of mmo players do have atleast a basic grasp of english due to their mmo hobby. And in fact some of us europeans, like myself, actually prefer using english ingame, rather than our own native language (and I am not from the UK incase someone is wondering :p). Granted, using english on EU servers is not impossible, but it always seems to cause more trouble than it benefits. Anyone who has played on EU specific servers knows about the huge arguments on what language to use in global chats.
Not to mention bigger and more international community, which in my books is always a big plus. If you take look at these forums for example, you can see that both the US aswell as the EU players have been getting along more than fine.
I can see why the company would want to go for the block. Better localization for EU (french, spanish, german), less lag, better support since the staff would be working in the same timezone and so on. And I suppose billing for the Cash Shop would be simplier aswell.
But out of a players point of view, the benefits of the combined servers outweight the benefits of the region specific ones by long.
That's just a few things I came up with. It's a tad early here so don't mind any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors I've made there. But I do hope the company will look at the matter from both points of view, theirs and the players :)

I, DO NOT want europeans here, now don't get me wrong, I have friends that are European but heres the reasons
They insult the USA, causing flaming (And the other way around)
They are so far, lag CAN be a issue
MANY, MANY gold farmers are european.
The skill level of USA players, and european players is almost barely comparable. Usually europeans are better at this games.
Everyone in the USA speaks practically the same language, while some european countries speak different languages.
Lower server pings.
Lower server players.
Less miss-understands due to "language barriers"
GM's can focus on USA players (And one/two languages) instead of a whole list of languages.

South America insults North America... hell USA insults USA... flaming will happen no matter what.
They are so far, lag CAN be a issue
Same with South America vs North... From my experiences of gaming, Europeans lag isn't that bad compared to people in South America or Asia.
MANY, MANY gold farmers are european.
There are some American gold farmers as well, and I am not sure where you get this information from. Most gold farmers are chinese.
The skill level of USA players, and european players is almost barely comparable. Usually europeans are better at this games.
I don't understand where you get this information. Throughout my 9 years of playing MMORPGs, I never really noticed a whole different skill level difference between USA and Europe. I mean people in USA have all different skill levels... it depends on the person, not the country.
Everyone in the USA speaks practically the same language, while some european countries speak different languages.
This may be a problem, but I think the fact that Brazillians are going to try to speak Portugese is more of an issue to worry about.
Lower server pings.
What does ping from you to the server have to do with Europe's ping from them to the server?
Lower server players.
This is bad in most people's eyes.
Less miss-understands due to "language barriers"
True... but there will still be a lot of misunderstandings since South America is allowed
GM's can focus on USA players (And one/two languages) instead of a whole list of languages.
Some GMs should be multilingual whether or not Europe is allowed.
My responses are below yours in bold.
Also, I would much rather allow Europe then South America. I think if they want to seperate the english version, they should have one version for Europe and USA, and another for South America.

I think you guys are doing the right thing. Language barriers could be a problem, but lag even moreso. Connection to a server in the USA from Europe would be very so by comparison, and vice versa.
South America with North America could be a problem, though...especially with language.
Something to note...someone said the European lag isn't that bad... Well, when I was in Ireland for 3wks this past May, I tried playing a few USA games. While the connection I was on was more than substantial, the lag made the game unplayable. The ping was monstrous. It just takes too long for the sent packets to be received on both side - too much physical distance to cover.
DaenMa
07-07-2009, 09:39 PM
About the ping issues, there are regional differences of course. I myself play even further from the US than Ireland and I have absolutely no problem playing US based games with a 2mb DSL connection.
I suppose one solution would be to make both servers, but without the block. Have the EU servers localized for different languages, but also give EU players the option to join in on the US servers if they so wish. This sort of a method is currently used in a certain other chinese themed mmo and it is working pretty well (from players pov, dunno how the actual numbers are).
The above of course might be a bit risky solution for the company cost/profit wise. Setting up a server in EU is not cheap for US based company I'd imagine.
Just throwing the idea out there, make what you want of it :)

well about the connection its just were they people get the internet connection from if they buy an cheap connection then yea it will be bad but i play a lot of games that are hosted in armerika and never had lagg.
i got an good paid internet connection so ive never got lagg.
its just what internet provider everybody has.
and i really would like to play this game and why dont you only let us play in this preview and closed beta and then let us wait for the european version.
because if you dont then a lot of keys just get trown away because they are not from amerika

I don't think Ping Issues is a big problem. From the pass, when I was in Viet, I played some game that ser put in the US such as Lineage2..., My ping was always low ( under 100). You guys should know that the Internet service in this country was really bad, they didnt have good facilities like EU
any way, I come up with the idea that we should allow EU to play this game

My Opinion is that I think you should let it run for all contries.
I understand for PRe-closed beta. but for the official version.I think you will make more than what you expects..
I think if you open for all contries, more people gonna join. like friend from differnent location rather than US. they all like kinda united all in one just to enjoy ONLINE. MMORPG
you will diffinately make more profit. more oppotunies for others to play. server r more crowed.. most online game I've play I notice that 1/2 are not US players. besides... VN server r opening more server and they still get profit. why not open for all and let the profit comes here in US(its like stealing other profit ). and I beleive some of them would love to play this and pick up more english.
OR U GUYS CAN NAME THE SERVER BY COUNTRIES & U DONT HAVE TO DO 2 THINGS AT ONCE!! US & EURO
I still got more but I think that's good for now.
and that's my lil opinion.

Well~ it would be very complicated if we make it worldwide ...
there will be lagging, bad connection and language issues ..so on and so forth
vietnam and china already have their own providers and servers...well i guess we only could share this to singapore and europe
i guess that's enough ...cuz if the game gets too crowded...nobody could really log on...just like SRO..i waited for hours and still cant log on... (:
the more crowd it is...the more language problems&issues will arise and it takes a lot of effort to solve them (;
it's busy enough that this is just CB version
things will be done in the future though =]

wow, i wonder how did you figure that Europe is a country? darn i so feel like i wasted 10 years of my life going to school rofl.
about the subject at hand, yes combining the regions on the same servers would be a better option then having 2 of them, there also comes the double expenses you'll have to pay, plus when you'll have the problem with servers being overcrowded you can always make a mirror of the server in another location, but another website...forum... server... those cost money anyway, so why don't you just get the license for Europe and then just remove the IP bans for that region and so on with all the others... then again creating another pointless version, many of the old games got ruined like this, if you take a look at some of the new and old mmorpg's you'll see that most of them have like 3-4 copies of the same game and all they changed is either the translation of the game's name, that blows, believe me, i had the bad luck to download and install one game 4 times just because it had a diff name for each, just sux0rz! also spliting the community... not a good idea.

Ok, I live in Sweden; so I will be officially upset and a bit pissed if the game is not open to Sweden. Most games online are not, and those that are often get spammed by stupid German people who can't speak English yet magically can read enough to play, then the Spanish speaking players, or what ever that language is!
Please, for the love of everything make it a rule you have to speak English; then enforce it darn it! I have quit being a mod for games because I was not allowed to enforce the rule of speaking English. I think if its an English text-ed games, and none English speakers are playing, they should know enough to speak it!
Still, please open to Sweden, and make the Euro version have the rule to speak only English; I rather not have some creep language running through the chat and covering up things normal people can read. -Give much wuv to people-

How long IP block will last?? after PCB or 4ever.
And should DO will open for more regions countries who do not have their own version? Gamers have a Right to Play the Game they Love:)
I agree. Any country that has their own version should be blocked, but I don't see why countries like Singapore, The Philippines, etc shouldn't be allowed to play, or at least make a SEA version.
They are prob closer to another version and get looped in with that one. Instead of coming to our version and having to deal with constant lag due to the distance.

the reason will be because the servers are too small, europe is well covered by isp connections and should not impede servers,so servers probably too small to cope, but the actual facts are if they look at servers to use the timezones it will allow max number of players for servers at any given time

It is better to have multiple server than Ip block. I have friends in Europe and asia and it would be good to play with them. It make the game more fun playing with friends around the world. SO i really do hope the developer change their mind.

Well I have friends I have made from other mmo's that live across the globe and I don't really see the problem with letting everyone play. All that would be needed is more servers, like many other mmo's have. I myself was sad when I told them about this game and then many replied back to me that they couldn't b/c of an ip ban. As far as language barrier...well most people will only play a game if they can understand what they need to do. If a game is in english, most ppl will know enough to get by.
Guys ... Sorry i am new here ... i can`t play ?! i am from Romania ( EuRopa ) ... Tell me .. .how can i connect ... i have the game .. i need account ... i need a Beta Key or something plz tell me More ! :(

If my fiance from Germany cannot play with me then I wont be able to play this game either. Which is sad because I was bringing several people from another game to play this game, but we are all from mixed nationalities. I am American, My fiance is German for the moment, and there are a few more Americans as well as some Dutch and UK friends that would be joining us.
As stated before, people from other countries typically wont play a game that speaks a language they cant understand. It would make the game pointless for them. By limiting us to one nationality area per server, you take away part of the fun that is MMO. Meeting new people from around the world.
It would be better to have multipe servers worldwide with the option to play on whichever server you like, not banned and forced to play in a specific nationality. You will lose the possibility of many members coming to play your game.
In the specific situation for me, my fiance and I cannot be together all the time as of yet because we are working on the visa process. When we arent working our jobs, we play MMO's together since its one of the only ways we can interact together. My friend suggested this game to me the other night and I played it for a few hours and loved it all the way up until I found out my fiance cant play with me. I'll keep checking back to see if things have changed in this department, but I dont think I'll play this game at all if this will be the case.

hello all
1. I must say I find something impudence certain people for the open beta to block until you get mass emails why not play and now this (in a cb I see it indeed a but not in an ob)
2. If Europe may stop playing the game goes on this page:
http://tlbb.eu.changyou.com/
is the same game only stop previously closed beta
is still closed beta but better than anywhere else just to be banned
So yes times here at the maker .. the game will be free time or so .. then do you do it here for the open beta already totally wrong .. how some countries already ban because ect?
revised times would say your concept .. something that drags total!

International servers are not up yet, though I'm sure that's on the vision statement somewhere if you want to check back next year.
As for "bringing people to play this game," it is currently a non-ad-supported-free-to-play and microtransactions will not be up until after open beta (next month). There is a European version as "the old man from Germany" has stated. I don't think this is a customer service issue so much as an informational issue.
Suggested: Front page of website links to the international other versions currently available so players in "non-standard" markets can find the situation best suited to them.

We have a ton of other versions...and the biggest reason we have these IP blocks is to not take traffic from those versions. We are all the same company, but individual branches of the parent.
So if you are trying to play the US version of the game from outside of the US, there is a very good chance that there is a "Dragon Oath" for you. If not, there will be one on the way soon.

good idea considering 99% of hackers/gold farmers are based in asia etc.. Yea it might sound a bit biased but ive seen other games cut off the asian market and you suddenly see 99% of the botting/gold seller spam/farming go away.
so its a good move on the part of the company, If they want to play the game they can play it on their own servers once they come out.
Edit.. And it would be a good idea to take a hard look at people who are pushing really hard for the Block to be removed. I would lay good odds that some of them are the ones we are having so many issues with botting etc.
(This is my opinion and as such is mine and mine alone)

hi,vinnie879
we suggest you go to the EU version that supports it in your region. More information you can enter here:
http://tlbb.eu.changyou.com/
Soo uhmmm they say 75 mil players.. that's just from American continents huh.....
Why do they even friggin advertise in other countries if they don't want them to come?
Europeans are less of a worry. They may have another native language, but most of us here are well-educated and have decent English. You should worry more about Brazilians. Their English is an absolute disaster and they only speak in Portuguese. And they're very annoying!!
I totally agree with Untamed, in all of his answers.
Btw.. you should mention on the official site - ONLY AMERICA. You know MORE THAN WELL no one actually reads those long boring stuff where u gotta press "I agree".
They download the game/waste their time just to wake up their account is banned and they haven't even got to log in once.
I live in Romania, and I am really disappointed of this banning-thing.
Like davick said, America promotes freedom right? Freedom for EVERYONE then!!!
And, Kanado .. "i want play with people from around the world.. not the spotty kid from around the corner" <<<
If Europeans lag, they're gonna lag in their own homes.. What does that affect you?
YOU SHOULD UNBAN
Hey, is Israel included in the ip ban list? As in, can I play?
Thanks, Game.
by the way, Israel is located in Asia

Will you add more country in the ip ban list ?
I heard that there will be Thailand server soon. Do you plan to add Thailand to the ban list ?
If so, I will stop playing soon as I don't want to get banned when my character lv 90 +_+
