I just can't decide!
Being Brand New I have a few I want to try out :p
Each class has Something I want to see how it works.
hmmm - invisibility...that sounds interesting so maybe assassin?
But everyone says Taoist is good to solo?
But then Royality is a little of everything.....
So I was wondering what YOU are going to make first? And why you decided on that class?
See you in a little over 3 hours!

i will make this simple
there only people that have the best control of that character
Healer = Lotus
Tanker=Shoalin
Magic User=Voodoo/Taoist
Physical Range User= Royalty
Pyromancer = MOST PHYSICAL DAMAGE
Begger = good dodge/poison user
assassin = invisble/good critical
but if your going to be the cheap *** pking/pvp type you probably be minstrel

I will be of the Lotus
Everyone loves a healer :D
One of teh good things about DO is that it allows for a number of character builds - though i only ever had enough time to build one in PCB. So i probably have a specific main character that i will focus most of my in-game energies towards and perhaps a couple of "play" characters for PVP and the like ;).
For mine, the choice of a main though has to embody the principles and values of that class. For example, each class has a home base that is created in the spirit of that class. Toaist's (my personal choice) home base is at Mt Wu Tang; the setting for teh base is one that reflects a serene environment which is delicately poised and balanced with its flora and fauna (waterfalls and lots of greenery etc). Personally i love going back to my class base as it does *feel* like home to me and a nice place to retreat ~ and contemplate deep thoughts about nothing :D. Compare this to the home base for the Lotus Order, for example, which is specifically different and reflects the values and principles of that class.
So for me, i'm going to (once again, lol) embrace "the way"; throw away my worldly possessions, burn my suit and tie, destroy my mobile phone, shred my diary, grab my torn and tattered copy of Lao Tzu, make the trek up to Mt Wu-Tung and rattle teh gates until they let me in :p.
In other words; Taoist ftw!
Anyway, i hope you all have a great 9am launch - it will be something like 3am in Australia, and though i am keen, i am not that keen, lol - and i hope to see you all in game later in the day.
Good luck! :).

I was thinking trying a Taoist, though I am very fond of Beggars as you can see from my sig. What is the pro and con of being a Taoist over a Beggar or vice versa?

Deft - thanks for the Starting Area info!
That is one of the things I also base my character choice on - seems like a lot of players don't do this ;)
Thank you all for the info - it is the witching hour here so I will let you know what I choose and what name I have......
Hope to see you all soon :D
