I just joined this game. I thought It looked a bit like World of Kung Fu (if anyone's played it). On that game, my favorite class is sword, because it is good at PvP and decent at PvE. What class should I go for? I want some sort of balance between defense or avoiding (dodge) and attack power.'
EDIT: I also like a class with many buffs and debuffs (if debuffs exist in this game)

Hello there friend, this game is not like that game you're talking about. In this game, technically any class can wield which ever of their choice. However, wielding a 1hand sword or 2hand sword will boost the damage of the classes due to certain skill in their skills list. I'm sure Taoist and Lotus and Voodoo are those guys that will have advantage with 1hand and 2hand sword. You can search in the class section to find guide on individual classes and decide whichever is good for you =)

If you like agility, dodge, and crit attacks I would choose Beggar Class. That is what they are all about.

by the way, u should go to class forums and check the guide threads ... it basically gives u the overview of each classes ... its good for new comers and people who aren't used to chinese-based games

I don't like it when people say things like 1 vs 1, this class will always win, etc. Skills, Equipment, gems, stats, and the user all matter, and in guild wars it also takes into account who else is in your party/guild/alliance, etc.

dude, i cant explain it to you here, you have to experience it in order to understand it.
when you get to lvl 80+, a LO with lvl 4 gems is 99% own other classes with lvl 5 gems... of cuz, if you are going to gem up all lvl 9 against a LO with lvl 4 gems, it would be a different story.
and, why I said guild war = Shaolin, because when you are lvl 90+, a Shaolin's HP > 200K, itz hard to die during a guild war. and plz dont say that Shaolin = low dmg, because itz guild war, not 1 vs 1, damage means nothing, the most important thing is "to stay alive"...!

I'm a level 89 Minstrel . with 37 level 4 and 2 level 5 gem. I am 100% sure that I can beat any L.O with full level 4 gems and some with full level 5 Stamina Gems with some luck.

Are you sure? What are you talking about? Arena(no pet, no HP, 1vs1) or Sword Competition(can use pet, medicines, HP)
Both arena (no pet, no item) and The World competition that happen twice a week (item, pet, steroid... etc all allow). For me it is harder to kill a L.O in Arena than in the World martial competition... i'll say i got only 50% chance and depend on my x2 skill. Beside, my Minstrel was build to be anti-Lotus.

dude, if a minstrel w/ lvl 4 gems can beat a LO w/ lvl 4 gems and lvl 5 sta, the only reason i can think of is: THATZ A NOOB LO
Minstrel's x2 skill seems really strong, but itz not when facing LO. think about it, if a LO stand there and heal himself, do you think u can hurt him? even w/ x2???
oh ya, Minstrel is the best anti-melee class, but i dont think it can be a anti-LO, if you can make it work that way, please upload a video, i really wanna c how it works out...

my Gems build is based mostly on Offensive and I equip 6 Gems for Ice resistance (most people distribute it evenly between 4 element, but I don't), and I focus on power, accuracy more than defensive stats -> HP of 49k and Attack is 25k, Accuracy is 13k . Even when a level 8x Lotus stand there and heal himself, It will NEVER be enough when he get hit by the x2 skill. To kill a L.O, you must hit hard and fast, along with freezing status from Minstrel.Think about x2 as reducing your HP in half is an easier way. Actually the 8x L.O with 6 Stamina 5 and full set of 4 that I beat isn't a Noob, because I can see that he know how to pvp against Minstrel.

i don't believe, if a L.O 8x lv4 gems or lv5 gems sta, he have HP 51k->65k. he can heal himself 5->6k HP/one time. You equip 6 gems for ice resistance. What do you think if he equip 6 gems for fire resistance. Attack 25k, he lose 1.2->1.3k hp/ one hit. if you have x2 Attack, damage 2k5 hp. i think you beat him When he haven't equip gems for fire resistance.

If you pitch me against another 8x L.O with 39 level 4 gems. In arena, I would win 85%, in World Competition would be 95%. That's for sure. I entered the World Competition for 8x every weeks and beat all those 39 level 4 L.O more than 1 time

where are you coming from ? We was talking about pvp in Arena and in World Competition; not "how to building a character to go around and pk other", is it ?

theres alot of factors that are important you guys only mentioned briefly besides the classes.
the level of their skill books, due to less needs of high skill levels L.O usually keeps their skill books low and use the xtra experience for levels. There are around 5 -15% damage disadvantages here if the L.O. do not have the adequate skill book levels, since minstrels needs all of their skills boosted. I'd bet loanpham has nearly full level 80 books.
the element attack and defence is a big factor here too, most level80+ characters have anti-poison gems for quest, so there's around 5 - 30% damage reduction for minstrel there if he uses poison gems (which is very rare). otherwise it depends on how much element atk/ice def the minstrel has and how much element atk/fire def the L.O. has. Again, L.O. doesn't HAVE to maintain a high element attack since they just do the healing part when they are leveling and doing quests.
forgive me if i used wrong terms as i just translated the words from the Chinese version of the game, 2 lazy to search out the proper terminology :p
when evenly leveled and equiped, the Minstrel has less than 45% chance to win against the L.O. However, that's almost never the case, at the same level range, the minstrel almost always have the better overall stat including a huge advantage over L.O. on dodge and accuracy, so usually the minstrel wins, I don't think loanpham was exaggerating when he said 85%.
If we are just comparing the classes, yes L.O. is probably king/queen of arena or tourny, especially over taoists and minstrels. I fool around in the arena often, in most cases i see minstrel wins over L.O., but that's just me :p

Because I plan to stay in 8x forever to enter the World Competition, which mostly dominated by L.O. That's why my gems build is based on anti-lotus - so, I don't use any Phys- Defense Gems at all, but I equip all 6 Ice resistant, this raise my Ice defense at about over 200 point. I refine my Fan wih level 8 refinement which increase its base stat by 135% .... overall, this brought my Sp Attack to around 25k, with all the buff and steroid (22k without buff). Like I said, to go against a L.O, you just have to hit hard so that they won't be able to heal..... able to but not fast enough
